The International Academy of Advanced Conducting after Ilia Musin and West Virginia State University (Institute, WV) announce a unique opportunity for conductors of all professional levels and any age to experience intensive study of advanced orchestral conducting styles with an internationally recognized faculty. Participants will have ample daily podium time with string ensemble, Symphonic Band, and workshop Orchestra. Internationally recognized faculty include: Dr. Leonid Korchmar (professor St. Petersburg Conservatory of music, conductor of Mariinski Theatre, RF), Dr. Oleg Proskurnya (director of IAAC) and Prof. Scott Woodard (WVSU). Russia, St. Petersburg July 28 – August 2
All podium sessions will be videotaped, and all participants will receive individual coaching on the works they will conduct. Public performances will be held at the end of workshop. Interested individuals should send a completed application, $75 (nonrefundable) application fee, short resume (or bio) and videotape, if available.
WVSU (Institute) June 23 – 29
Tuition - $ 650. Applications dead-line is June 1st. Upon notification of acceptance, a $350 deposit must be submitted with the balance due by June 2th, 2014. No refunds will be made after June 9th, 2014. Housing and meals are included for June 23-29 only (meals will begin with diner on 23rd and conclude with breakfast on 29th). There will be an additional charge for early arrivals and late departures. The limited number of partial and full scholarships are available for participants on first-come-first-serve basis.
RF, St. Petersburg July 28 – August 2
Tuition - $1,495 for participants, $950 for auditors - will participate in all aspects of the program and receive daily podium (ensemble only). Assistance with affordable accommodation is provided. Upon notification of acceptance, a $400 deposit must be submitted with the balance due by July 7. No refunds will be made after July 15, 2014. Faculty include: Dr. Leonid Korchmar and Dr. Oleg Proskurnya.
The goal of the International Academy of Advanced Conducting is to promote and expand the legacy and methodology of Professor Ilia Musin. Participants should bring their own scores for selected repertoire.
